melbourne lockdown party ideas at home
/How to Party - Lockdown Style!
The Mamma’s have had a few lockdown birthdays to plan for now, and we know how difficult it is to see the look of disappointment on little faces when we tell them they can’t have a party with their friends … again!
So we have put together a handy little guide to provide some inspiration on how to make their day truly special - and see their faces light up with happiness!
Decorate! Decorate! Decorate!
Mamma says nothing screams party like some decorations! Hang some streamers from their bedroom door, so when they wake up they get to walk through a bit of magic!
And….BALLOONS! Bright colourful balloons are so simple yet effective and kids will love to play with them too!
There are cute little face balloons with removable stickers available from Poppies for Grace - pictured above.
PLUS all your local PARTY SUPPLY shops have a great range of balloons that can be delivered or you can pick up!
Lockdown Party Food!
You can’t possibly have a party without party food and what better excuse do we need to shower the birthday kiddo with some sweet treats!
Luckily we are spoilt for choice when it comes to having sweetness delivered! You can get things like:
Lolly Boxes by Red Hill Confectionary
Donut Delivery Boxes by Melbourne Donut Bouquet
Cookies - personalised cookies from Sugar Rush By Steph
Tacos and delicious Mexican food from Rosa Mexicano
Ice Cream! How about having a special visit from Mr Fresh Ice cream Van!
and of course - special birthday cakes.
Picnic!
A small picnic is a great way to celebrate now that the weather is getting warmer! Get a fancy glamping picnic package from Dream Away Glamping Parties - or hire some perfect picnic tables and party ware from Little Party Play!
For some inspiration on where to picnic with your fam other than your backyard - check out our Best Parks and Playgrounds
Pick up some delicious picnic food -
Pastries from Motte Patisserie
Lunch Boxes by the Hungry Peacock
High Tea and more from The Hatter and The Hare
Sandwiches, Cookies and Cakes from Frank and Harri
CAMP OUT!
This could be having a tent set up if you have one - or see if you can hire a glamping tee pee or two for the occasion (we have 3 fantastic suppliers online in our theme section - here) Even just bringing the kids mattresses out of their bedrooms and into the lounge room and surrounding them with balloons
DIY FUN
There’s also some really cool DIY options that can keep the kids busy and double as an awesome gift!
Things like
GIFTS
Get some amazing toys or games delivered from a local toy shop like Toy Box Tales! Or what about some Harry Potter merch from The Store of Requirement. Throw in some awesome party ware from Invite Me and the party is really getting started now!
You could also buy vouchers/gift cards for fun in the future at Playcentres like Funtopia, Latitude, Relax & Play, Clip n Climb and MORE
ENTERTAINMENT
There are some great entertainment ideas too!
How about having Transformers come to your doorstep? Or Elsa sing you happy birthday via video?
Or a chat with a Fairy perhaps with True Fairies! Or hire some awesome games and toys from Moorabbin Area Toy Library!
Some other great ideas we have seen over the lockdown:
Asking neighbours to tie a balloon on their fence and go for a birthday parade walk!
Making some chocoloate crackles and leaving them out for your neighbours to help you celebrate
Set up a zoom party with friends as a surprise!
Organise a family movie night complete with popcorn and choctops
Spread out the birthday cheer with goodies on the hour! So a present at 11am, cake at noon, another gift at 1pm, a birthday lunch at 2pm…you know spread it out over the day! It is a birthDAY of course!
